This post is a compilation of all the ideas I’ve made for the Epic Games Store/Launcher. You may have seen some of them in previous posts, but here you can find a compilation for most of them.

Quality of Life (QOL)

  • Compact Library View + Modify Game Title

A third view for the library, titled ‘Compact’, allowing you to see even more of your games and potentially decrease library loading times. Also, the option to change a games title on your side only, allowing more organised sorting of game sequels by alphabetical order.

  • Control Support Details

Display which control types are supported natively in the game specifications, as well as show additional supported features when hoving over one which uses those supported features. This could also include things like wheel support and flight sticks.

  • Create Start-Menu Shortcuts

Show an option to create a start-menu/quick-menu shortcut at install

  • DLC Achievement Lists

An example of GTA Online Heists DLC List, which doesn’t count towards platinum. Games with DLC achievements have their DLC lists split into groups, so you can view them separately.

  • Hide Games From Account/Search Transactions

Select the games you want to hide from your account forever (unless you change your mind after years), as well as a search bar so you can find games you added to your library years ago.

  • More Organised Feature Lists

Game Features and Epic Features are separate, while also providing unique icons for all the features. Genres also have icons, so users can quickly tell them apart at a quick glance.

  • Overlay/Social Settings

Change your online status in the launcher/EOS overlay; enable/disable the overlay in all games, even if they don’t officially uses the EOS SDK and the option to change controller output emulation type (for example, emulate an Xbox controller if you use a DualShock in a game which only supports Xbox controllers)

Features

  • Activity Feed

Displays all your friends recent activity (as well as your own), from activities across the launcher, including when a user adds a paid game to their library, unlocks new achievements/platinum, adds to wishlist, reaches a playtime milestone etc… This could be expanded to feature shared screenshots and clips captured in-game, via Epic Online Services.

  • Game Hubs

Features some general game stats, as well as a list of tabs to select, starting with a more specific activity feed, to show off what your friends are currently up to in the game you’re viewing. On the right also shows a list of players who own the game and/or are currently playing it, with their current playtime.

Achievements view for the game you’re currently viewing, featuring your most recent achievement stats, as well as DLC achievements (similarly to the my achievements page).

Curated list of News & Events related to the current game, as well as patch notes by the date the patch released.

Game Settings, split into drop-down categories including Manage, Additional Languages, and Add-Ons, starting with Manage game options from Game Hub Settings

Manage Add-Ons from the game hub

  • Gift Games

The user has an option to enable gifting their entire cart, then choose a friend to gift it to. A yellow exclamation point will show next to friends you have only recently added.

Select a theme from a list of presets, then write a gift note.

  • Integrated Mod.io pages for games which already utilise the Mod.io Service

Visit and subscribe to mod.io mods directly on Epic, instead of having to leave the site every time you want to manage your mod.io list.

  • Queued Downloads

Manage game downloads you currently have queued from a separate tab in the download pop-out, as well as change their priority or removing them from the list by dragging each entry up/down the list.

  • Reviews

View rating/review stats for the curent game, as well as write and read reviews from other players. Users must either choose "recommended" or "not recommended" to post a review, but their rating will only show if they previously rated the game from an Epic Poll, upon quitting the game.

  • Time Game Trials

Start a timed trial (playtime set by the publisher), allowing you to play a certain amount of time before being asked to purchase the game.

Integration with EOS, to allow users to immediately purchase the game from the overlay and continue playing where their trial ended.

Edit: It’s now 14 potential improvements
