Hey all
Im a System Administrator in a pretty large company and I work all day every day in Ubuntu for everything + RDPing to Windows systems with Remmina.
Lately, i had some time to test a live USB of Fedora 39 and I found it to be smoother, probably because of a more optimized Gnome DE and less bloatware I guess.
I almost ready to switch and i just have a couple questions about fedora:
- does Fedora repos + flatpak offer the more or at least the same amout of apps available for me? Ubuntu is so popular that almost every program that has a “Download for Linux” section, usually hosts a .deb package or just straight has an option to install ONLY on ubuntu system, example: Cisco Packet Tracer and DisplayLink drivers.
Will i have problems with finding software for Fedora? 2. Was it a placebo or is it true that Gnome 45 runs better, smoother then Gnome 42.9 + Ubuntu addons? whats your experience ? 3. and finally the most asked question on any linux subreddit: how stable is Fedora? if im not tinkering with the OS and just do thing by the book, how likely it’ll fail during an update and in general?
I guess that’s it.
im very excited for the new Gnome DE version on Fedora. its so so polished and looks amazing.
thanks.
