Recently we are having an influx of newcomers seeking for help with all sorts of issues. Welcome everyone!

But to receive proper help, you need to provide sufficient information so we can help you. Making a short but descriptive text is very effective, but sometimes images are needed: we are making games after all!

The single most common error is to take a photo of the screen: This comes with all sorts of quality issues and is often hard to see what is going on. The right way to seek help with images is to get the information directly from your computer!

Here are some tips for Windows:

Windows 10: Press the keys Windows+Shift+S and the snipping tool will appear. Use this tool to select the desired part of the screen. After selecting a new window will appear and you can save the image.

Windows 11: If you are in the latest version (23H2), you can just hit the key PrintScreen (PrintScn in some keyboards) and the snipping the snipping tool will appear. Use this tool to select the desired part of the screen. After selecting a pop-up will appear in the taskbar, select it and the window with save option will appear.

But what should you include?

  1. If is a coding error, select the code, the errors and the output with the error description in your screenshot.

  2. Is always a good idea to also include the node tree.

  3. Make a description that is not too short, but also not too long. A couple paragraphs is usually enough.

  4. Don’t make generic titles like “Somebody please help me”. Go straight to the topic like “Why I’m getting this Cyclic Error on my Animation Tree?”.

With proper information is more likely that you will get help and people helping will not struggle with bad photos/descriptions \o/
