I quite often see people within our circles write, often in a disheartened way, that the masses don’t appreciate or understand the need for privacy.

But is this really true? I came across this article a few days ago that I thought I would share with you:

The article is about a 2021 survey from the European Central Bank:

https://www.ecb.europa.eu/pub/pdf/other/Eurosystem_report_on_the_public_consultation_on_a_digital_euro~539fa8cd8d.en.pdf

In the survey over 8,000 people were asked what feature they prioritize the most in a digital currency. What was their answer? Interestingly, it wasn’t speed, low fees, or even security. The number one answer was privacy.

“What the respondents want most from a digital euro is privacy (43%)…”

So perhaps we shouldn’t underestimate the large majority of people, at least the ones who live within the European union.

Of course, it’s also great news for those of us who want to promote Monero. It means that there is a real demand for a digital currency that is private.
