Well, I don’t really visit or follow this subreddit since getting an iPhone 15 Pro Max, but I do read LinkedIn every day and I hadn’t seen this report posted.

Apparently, Apple has developed a new system they’re calling ‘Presto’ which will allow them to update sealed/boxed iPhones so they will have the newest firmware already installed without users needing to do it when setting up their new iPhone. I only posted this because I hadn’t seen it in the subreddit already and I know a lot of folks ask about chances to receive iPhones at specific firmwares depending on when and where they’ve been purchased, hoping to get an early firmware to jailbreak.

Link is here of the report I saw on LinkedIn. Doesn’t seem like it’ll be something to worry about until iOS 18, which I’m not even sure if people still expect to be able to jailbreak the newest firmwares anymore but it seems like this is Apple’s way of staying ahead of the game.

Again, I’m OOTL these days but I’ve been jailbreaking iPhones since the first one came out and only stopped with my newest phone. My flair is for the only iPhone I have left that’s still jailbroken. I don’t have much to contribute these days, but this could either spur up some discussion or mods and freely delete and I’ll go on about my way. But, I am interested in this particular feature as I just do not like updating my iPhone and I don’t like the idea of having no choice to ignore the updates in future releases.

Edit: Link didn’t post upon first submission.
