In 2022 my dad and I biked across America 4,216 miles in just under 3 months. Our plan was to not have much of a plan. I’ve thru hiked the Appalachian Trail and the Te Araroa in New Zealand and there is no feeling like the solitude and day to day life of waking up and not knowing where you will end up or what you will see that day. Neither of us had any experience bike touring before but my dad had double knee replacement a few years back and still has a difficult time walking. This ruled out his dream of thru hiking the Appalachian Trail so the next best solution was to hop on some bikes and make up a route as we go. We didn’t plan much of a route before we left, we would just look at Google maps at the end of the night and roughly come up with a plan on the fly. We don’t have much experience with filming and video editing but I think we captured the essence of a beautiful journey and amazing memories. My family laughs that my dad still watches these videos regularly after almost 2 years. I gotta admit I also watch them quit frequently as well reliving the wonderful memories we shared together. I hope you enjoy riding along with us on our journey.
