I see people complaining about things such as:

  • lunch breaks becoming shorter
  • working more hours without break
  • no bonuses
  • no salary increases
  • limited bathroom breaks

Guys, this is a result of greed. Companies are obsessed with constant increase in revenue and reduction of cost and it’s become clear to me that they will go as far as they can to achieve their goals. So much so that they will look for any kind of place to optimize, even if it takes away from basic human needs.

Look at examples such as Amazon that does even allow their workers to take a proper toilet break and they end up having to pee in bottles.

My mom works 15-16 hours per day as a cook in a restaurant back in my home country and gets paid minimum wage. She was allowed to use the restaurant’s coffee beans and sugar to make a coffee cup until some smartass came up with an idea of making the staff pay for the coffee beans and sugar they use to reduce operational costs. They also were allowed to have 2-3 bottled waters from the fridge for free during the summer but now they have to bring their own bottle and use tap water only which is warm during the summer (she works in the kitchen and it is hot like an oven in the summer in there). They have even started monitoring that they do not eat food during the working hours.

The same businesses complain that no one wants to work even though they offer an amazing work environment.

Greed to this degree should be considered of the worst of crimes.
