I was rewatching Precious after it had been a while since I saw it when it first came out, and her mother; Mary is one of the first that comes to my mind when I think about characters that committed actions where they should be in jail and we never see them get brought into police custody (on-screen or at least a mention of it)!

Especially following the scene where Precious runs away from home after she finally stood up to her mom, and Mary practically almost kills her and her newborn baby by dropping her TV on them. Their neighbour across the hall even witnessed the whole thing for crying out loud!!
