In 2021 I fully switched after years of using Linux, deleted Windows partition for good. I instantly noticed Apex much more smoother on Linux. Apex using Source Engine, so Proton fits perfectly for this game. Linux gives me better render latency, low input lag, more clear vision (If you using nVidia on Windows Apex gonna be little bit blurry because of weird defaults) and %1 fps. My avarage fps not good as Windows but smooth gameplay more important for me.
I’m streaming from my second graphics card; unfortunately, I couldn’t manage to both play games and stream with two graphics cards on Windows. However, I can do it smoothly on Linux after installing the drivers, just it. Especially, capturing clips causes less fps loss compared to Windows.
Linux is not perfect for Apex but definitely getting better everyday, I’m so happy to with my current Linux setup. Lastly, my processor is a 2nd generation Ryzen 5 3600. Some might be aware that 2nd gen 3600s unfortunately have manufacturing issues. That’s why I had stutters and blue screen problems on Windows, but when I switched to Linux, I didn’t have such issues anymore.
