In case you haven’t heard, there’s a number of people boycotting Loblaws and its stores in May to protest the rising cost of groceries. I’ll also be avoiding Sobeys and Save On since they’re just as bad and are even less affordable than Superstore or No Frills.

Whether or not people decide (or have the ability) to participate in the boycott or not, I was hoping for suggestions on the smaller grocery stores we should support that are relatively affordable.

I’ve been shopping at H&W Produce more (the Mill Woods location), but I find some of their produce can be hit or miss: some stuff is fresh, but other products look like they’re about to spoil soon. It’s still a much better bargain than Superstore, but I find that I can’t get all the fresh produce I need there and supplement my purchases with farmers markets.
