My sister(39) and I(38f) have been friends with Sarah(38f) since we were kids. Last year my sister asked Sarah’s son(21m) out. The two of them are engaged now.

Sarah doesn’t approve of this and isn’t going to attend the wedding because she thinks my sister is a creep for being with him when she has known him since he was a kid. I also find it weird that the kid I think of as my nephew, even though not related by blood, is marrying my sister. I promised my friend not to go as well.

Now my mom is mad at me. She kept telling me I should go, and that by refusing to go, I’m choosing my friend over my sister. I told her that I’m willing to do that and now she is even more upset.
