As a homeowner and onlooker in both r/arborists and r/treelaw, the number one thing that home owners should go and do today is to take pictures of the trees on your property. Those trees matter a lot to the value of your home, to the quality of the environment, and to your reduced heating and cooling bills.

In a case where something goes wrong with that tree, you are going to want a “before” picture to prove its details - general age, health, size, location, etc.

Several times a day, someone’s neighbour cuts down a tree that belongs to them, either maliciously or otherwise. These trees are not cheap to replace, and are very often worth recouping costs to replace it. Like, $5000-20000+. Having documentation of it makes this all significantly easier.

You wouldn’t spend $5000 on something and not document you own it, and your trees should be no different. :)
