WAIT DON’T YELL AT ME I’M NOT JUST HERE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT CONSTRUCTION

Something I actually really enjoy about downtown Boise is just how walkable it is. As someone from a very much non-walkable city, it’s so nice to have a clearly thriving area where business is good and the area is pedestrian centered.

I hate the inconvenience of road construction as much as the next person. But I mean, life seems to go on just fine with all of these closures. And yes, I’m sure it’s all required maintenance or something, and the city has this all carefully and well thought-out (read: sarcasm) ((re-read: these construction companies HAVE to be a front for the mob, right???)). But why can’t we just…close off a couple more roads? Just expand 8th street and the basque district a little more.

Blah blah blah traffic and more construction and stuff and I’m sure it’s unreasonable to do, but I think it would still be a neat idea. I work downtown constantly and am always happy to work in such a bustling area, and would love to see it expand and thrive.

  • on another note I think it would be interesting to see if certain road closures could decrease congestion in leading people to find alternate efficient routes
