Hey everyone,
so a little while ago I replayed the WoL campaign and while I personally don’t hold SC2’s writing in the highest regard in general, this scene stuck out to me.
So Valerian wants to meet with Raynor and recruit him. Instead of sending a message and inviting Raynor to his flagship or something, he just drops out of warp with several battlecruisers and stays silent. Then he waits for Raynor to board his battlecruiser and still has his marines try to fight them off, pointlessly sacrificing his own men and endangering Raynor. I mean, one stray bullet and the man he wanted on his side would have been dead. And then when Raynor and Tychus finally reach the bridge he is all like “Ah good you are here.”
Am I missing something? I get that maybe Raynor wouldn’t have agreed to a meeting if he had known it was Valerian beforehand, but couldn’t Val just have set the meeting at some random bar under a fake identity or something instead of this whole let-Raynor-board-my-ship-and-hope-nothing-goes-wrong?
