I’m looking for a new roadie after a very long time riding only vintage steel. I picked up a 54cm Diverge this year and it’s really pulled me back in, to the point I’m feeling limited riding as much pavement as I have been. I’ve made what adjustments I can (max saddle height my hips and knees can do, saddle a bit forward, dropped 20mm out of my stack) but I feel like I’m trying to turn a Cadillac into a Corvette.

I’ve been eyeing up the Soloist as the solution, but it’s a hard frame to find in my location in the sizes I should be test riding.

I’m 5’9” / 175cm with a longer torso and wingspan. I’m stout with shorter legs and primitive arms. Stand over is 75cm.

By Cervelo’s chart, I’d go for a 54, which is a bit of a downsize but consistent with what I’ve always ridden; although never properly fitted. On the Soloist it seems like I’d have the seat pretty low on a 54, and not much standing clearance. I’m wondering if anyone has any recommendations / opinions about going to a 51 for this frame, or if there’s another manufacturer that might suit me better (although I’d be sad bc I think the soloist is gorgeous).

tldr: I’m probably buying a Soloist, so I’m looking for info about which size (51 or 54) might work best for me.
