Seriously, my boss would constantly call me immature because I played video games on my free time and liked to go out. Her outlook was truly just to work and nothing else. You weren’t a fully grown adult unless you strictly worked and took care of kids.

I lived in Argentina and was shocked to see that people dropped off their kids for swim class etc, then the adults would go off and do their athletic curriculums. I was so embarrassed to show up to breakdancing class, I felt so immature doing that at 25. Absolutely no one cared. I’m truly sad that American culture considers anything outside of work for children only.
