Hello there! I’m from Palermo, Sicily, about 75 miles from Canneto di Caronia, the small town in the district of Messina where mysterious fires spread in 2004, 2005 and during the subsequent years, along with numerous anomalous events: cars that started up without anyone turning on the keys, rabbits that died all of a sudden, meters catching fire from the inside etc… I think you have heard of the case, if you want to see something about it there’s this video by The Unexplained Files.

Given the proximity to the place (and – I admit it – the age when these facts happened, I was like 14 years old) those events always fascinated me. As someone who grew up with “The X-Files” and - more recently at the time - “Taken” (2002), that was the chance to have something really weird going on an hour away from my place.

I recently read lots of stuff about Caronia, how the investigation revealed something about an electromagnetic pulse beam as the cause for those fires and anomalous events, but then everything was basically “covered up” with a definitely more mundane explanation (two arsons were declared responsible of the fires) that couldn’t explain all the other “high strangeness” phenomenons occurred during the previous years.

When I read the news of the time, where the journalists said that an Interistitutional Group was being formed to scrutinize and understand the nature of the cause behind the phenomenons, I noticed that several sources say that “a NASA researcher” had been selected by the Italian civil protection to be part of the team. This guy is never mentioned in any TV special about Caronia, he’s doesn’t have a name in any of the news published, looks like an “Invisible” (Tim Taylor, is that you?).

I would like to have some help from you fellow subredditors, to identify this guy and try to understand what a NASA researcher came to do in a tiny, scarcely inhabitated town in the northern coast of Sicily if the fires weren’t ignited by something anomalous.
