When I was a kid (about 14) in 2006ish my brothers and I used to live in Corinth Maine. It’s a pretty wooded area, in our yard off to the side we had a tree stump near the woods but still in the yard. One day we were outside playing catch and goofing off and I had to go to the bathroom, like any boy living in the woods I ran over to the stump while my brothers kept playing. Right as I was about to walk back over, this grayish flat football shaped fish looking thing with no eyes popped out of the stump. It was about 6 inches wide and like 9 inches long if I had to guess. When it popped out it bounced 3 times on the ground and shot into the sky and I watched it go until I couldn’t see it anymore and it was gone. To this day I can’t explain what it possibly could have been and periodically throughout the years I have tried to look up similar things.

Anyone have an idea on what it may be?
