I’ve been running InfluxDB since I started using Home Assistant, but I feel like there’s no need for it now that we have built-in long-term data storage.

There are still two reasons I can think of:

  • Statistics aggregates data, while InfluxDB keeps the data exactly as it is, so you have a finer resolution (not 100% sure about this, please correct me if I’m wrong).
  • Grafana has much more powerful tools to generate all kinds of graphs (with the disadvantage that you can only use them in your dashboard with iframes).

What’s your opinion?
