Haven’t tested this but my gut says the commit patch url can be directly used for patches within nix but I don’t think it would be the best idea to use the url directly within nix for patching. Given the nature of git it will probably work since the commit will exist even if you rebase the PR branch? (correct me if I’m wrong here).

But regardless it’s a quick way to yoink a PR and apply it to to something through nix even if you don’t use the url directly.
