Hi all!

I’m a radioman on a Navy destroyer and we handle all network related things as well. I’ve had a few people ask me about setting up a movie/media server that could be used with personal devices. I figured i’d ask here and see about the viability of it before i pushed it to our MWR for funding.

It would have to fully isolated from the internet. All media would likely be submitted to us and then we add it onto the server ourselves with one of our management laptops.

From what i understand, the plan was for multiple small routers/AP’s placed in the spaces like berthings, lounge, messdecks, etc. where people tend to go to watch things.

Again, I’m not very familiar with these things myself so any advice or considerations I may have forgotten are greatly appreciated.
