This happened a few years ago, near Christmas. My office organized a Secret Santa where everyone picked a person to find a gift for by drawing a random name out of a hat. I got the name of a woman I did not know, Emily, she worked in another department and I’d maybe talked to her a couple times in my life so I did not know what to get her. Plus, I was pretty broke so I could not afford anything expensive.

Well, I had been gifted really expensive, fancy duck foie gras for Christmas, so I figured, that would be the perfect gift for Emily. So I wrapped the foie gras up and gave it to her.

Guys… Emily is vegan. Apparently most of my coworkers knew that, because you could feel it in the air when Emily pulled off the wrapping paper from the foie gras.

But the worst part is… Emily handed me the foie gras back and told me she’s vegan, and I instinctively replied “I didn’t get the foie gras specifically for you, it was gifted to me and I didn’t want it.”

Emily acted very honorably and did not push me down any further than I did to myself…

TL;DR: Re-gifted foie gras to a vegan coworker, and I confessed to it being a repackaged gift that I was gifted in the first place.
