So the Steam Deck is my first PC gaming device and I’m confused as to what changing the Proton version actually does? Should I just leave it on default for most games, or is there a benefit to forcing a specific Proton version? For example, I’m assuming there are benefits to tinkering with Proton for a game like Red Dead 2 and likely fewer benefits for something less intensive like Binding of Isaac.

I’ve tried researching this on other Reddit posts but keep getting results related to the ProtonDB plugin (which is great btw). From what I have been able to find it seems like Proton Experimental is a good option to use, but I may be misunderstanding.

TYIA!
