Currently, there’s only two ways to get any glyphs:

  1. Purchase a dedicated set of tools from the Gem Store with a specific glyph already attached to it (Volatile, Unbound, etc) or purchase a generic set of tools from the Gem Store and get a Glyph Selection Container included to choose the glyph you want.
  2. Purchase an unused glyph from the Trading Post.

Once a glyph is attached to a tool, it is bound and can’t be traded. This has severely limited the supply of glpyhs and have made some unreasonable and over priced. A single Glyph of Volatility costs upwards of 900g each. This is beyond the point where you should trade your gold in for gems and just purchase a set of tools from the Gem Store. There was some glyphs that used to drop from Black Lion Chests, but that was removed, leaving the Gem Store as the only method to introduce glyphs into the market. A source of glyphs was removed without a suitable replacement being introduced. Ideally, they should be added back to the Black Lion Chests, but I think we’d settle for a Gem Store item now. It can be priced pretty aggressively, something like 2,000 gems would probably be fine.

There’s already an incentive to purchase these Glyph Selection Containers because they didn’t always exist when unlimited tools without glyphs already placed were being sold. I purchased a set of tools years ago and it didn’t come with glyphs and prices were already quite expensive then, with the Black Lion Chest supply still available. This problem is further compounded with Homesteads which are actively taking glyphs out of the normal, open world usage, and tying them to the Homestead nodes exclusively. For anyone that pre-ordered the Deluxe, they’re now potentially stuck with a set of tools without a set of glyphs to go along with them. For anyone that is actively gathering resources for whatever reason, plays WvW, or any number of assorted activities, are now doing without because of the inability to reasonably acquire Glyphs.

For the health of the glyph economy, as a new revenue stream but more importantly to improve the quality of life and value to the player, please add Glyph Selection Containers to the Gem Store.
