I know that a lot of people read their blue books, but for those who don’t, I think there are some details about Prop 131 that should be pointed out:

It does TWO things:

  1. There would only be one primary, in which a candidate from any party may participate in. Also known as a jungle primary. This primary would not be ranked choice.

  2. The top four from the open primary get put on the general election ballot. The general election would be ranked choice.

I reiterate, voters in the primary vote for one person, not many. This is not a purely ranked choice voting proposition.
