Found a girl unconscious on a bench outside the Old George, about 2am. Guy with her, blatantly a student who has had too much to drink, but to the nth degree. Not an issue with the guy with her, he was obviously concerned for her well being, just perhaps lacking the wherewithal to deal with the situation. Walked 100 meters to the parked up police on big market. Their response “there’s an ambulance over there” Walked over to the ambulance. With 3 paramedics stood outside. Explained the situation and was finally asked, “is she breathing?” Yes she was. As im stood next to an ambulance, with 3 paramedics, i was told to phone 999 for an ambulance. They couldnt move from that spot. Its 2am, theres an unconcious young woman on a bench down a dark alley. “If shes breathing you have to call 999” What is the point of the police and ambulance presence on bigg market if not to deal with that exact situation?
