So I was lazy, had the deflection kit for my 16 just sitting around in that tiny envelope for a month and change. Been busy with work, had places to go, standard excuses to just not get it done. Finally just sat down and took the whole like 10 minutes to install it and it is legit. I wasn’t terribly upset with how the keyboard felt before and I won’t claim its the most rock solid thing ever built now but it is a notable improvement. Previous laptop was a Sager that was built on Clevo hardware and I always loved the machine but hated that keyboard. I do not hate my FW16 keyboard, especially after the deflection kit install.
Don’t be like me, install the kit. It doesn’t prevent you from upgrading any of your existing hardware when the time comes and after you install it you can go back to not having to remove the midplate for another unspecified number of months.
