While lots of twitter libs are up in arms blaming minorities and the Left for their loss, most average people in the US who are not terminally online do not ascribe to this line of thinking and are hitting the point of disillusionment with Democrats and the two-party system. I have found my liberal friends more open than ever to discussing the problems with American democracy, and have taken the opportunity to help move them toward viewing this framework through a class-conscious lens.
Talk to the American libs in your life about how the Democrats never do what they promise, provide some evidence of why this is malicious, not incompetence. Highlight the fact that abortion rights are perpetually in danger but Dems never seem to be able to do anything about it. BUT when it comes to sending billions to the military industrial complex or wall street they never seem to face any difficulty. Allude to the idea that we don’t live in a democracy, but some kind of…dictatorship…yeah. A dictatorship that is ruled by the wealthy, who get to do whatever they want while average people struggle to live. Avoid using big words like proletariat and bourgeoisie, keep things simple and down to earth. There is an opportunity here to move more people toward the left, do not waste it!
