So I was playing a game of Pirate Scotland, as one does, and while trying to fix my stability and economy issues after going Anglican while being at 650/500 govcap, I couldn’t help but notice that the continent was looking a little bit… scary. I realized that this was SORT OF my fault, because I’d called castille into a war against portugal when beating up the English, and they got their asses beat because of the civil war and a disloyal Aragon. Unfortunately, I was a

Unfortunately, I’d hoisted the black flag extra hard and wasn’t able to ally anybody other than Pirate Republics, so… nobody. My avenues of intervention were limited, so I decided to start a trade war with France and hopefully just take enough money/war reps from them to discourage them from constantly going to war and maybe even debt spiral em. Things went well, and I was ready to just blockade and sit around for 5 years while I played with my colonies and converted my provinces.

but it seemed like the great powers of the world

had other plans. Of course I denied, because what are they gonna do, land on my islands?

So uh, somehow my little trade war turned into a crusade against the ottomans, which was great because I also had no avenue of cutting them down to size.

Hundreds of thousands of men, fighting and dying in the Balkans and Lithuania for… trade rights in bordeaux? I love me some pointless wars, but this one might have taken the cake. After they had all beaten each other up, France took a white peace(???) with the ottomans, and both Hungary and Lithuania quickly took one from me. They all just… got tired I guess.

in the end, I got my war reps and money and uh… thats it I guess. See you in a few years France, we’ll do this again.
