Aside from growing herbs, which are awesome, what kinds of things can you grow to help keep yourself full and make less frequent supermarket trips?

For me, I live in the tri-state area. Cucumbers have always produced abundantly, so much so that I’ve stopped buying store cucumbers all together.

What sorts of filling plants can you start raising right now that might save you in say 6 months time?
