Hello everyone! I saw, that many of you say, that the raspberry pi is not a good solution to host your smart home. I would like to know why you see it like that. I use the new Pi 5, with 8gb RAM which I bought used for 80$ including active cooling system. I use it with Portainer to run my Minecraft server for me and friends, homeassistant and HomeKit Bridge. And all that without any Problems. I have around 2K entities and a couple of automations running. I have to say that I don’t use SD Card to host everything. I bought a cheap usb 3.2 1TB SSD and plugged it in one of the blue ports. I also overclocked the CPU a bit (temps are never over 56 Celsius even when me and 5 friends game on the MC server) IMO this is a very good and strong system while maintaining low Current costs. Not once I saw the responsiveness of the system off.

I am very curious: What are your opinions against such a system?
