They can’t increase actual detail in images, they guess what might go there and paste in some existing imagery to fill the gap. This images end up being essentially collages of small pieces of things that were never in the original photograph. I know everyone means well but they are not helpful in any way and in a lot of cases, end up creating “fake” images that people think are the original.
