Today would have been my 10 year wedding anniversary if I hadn’t gotten divorced. We probably would have gotten pizza in a midsize US city. Instead I am working on a fascinating project while drinking wine in a Parisian cafe. I’ll meet some friends later for dinner. Just privately celebrating (with the internet) because I want it to be such a non-thing anymore IRL.
Edit: this is not a criticism of small US cities. I’m from one and love it very much. And certainly Paris has it’s downsides. I was more thinking of it as the contrast about how much different my life is because I didn’t just accept the way things were. Also he’s perfectly nice (even though he has his flaws, as do I, because we’re people). He is engaged to someone else now, and I wish them well. It just wasn’t for me.
