Gordie Howe played until the age of 52 where his last NHL team was the Hartford Whalers in 1980. If other hockey hall of fame players played that long, the following players would still be playing today:

  • Martin Brodeur and Daniel Alfredsson would retire this upcoming season, Jaromir Jagr (who still plays in Czechia) would also retire in the 2023-24 season

  • Eric Lindros, Peter Forsberg, Scott Niedermayer would retire after 2024-25 season

  • Paul Kariya, Chris Pronger, would retire after the 2026-27 season

  • Zdeno Chara, Jarome Iginla would retire after the 2029-30 season

  • Sidney Crosby would play until the 2040-41 season and Alex Ovechkin would play until the 2038-39 season

  • Connor McDavid would play until the 2049-50 NHL season

My favorite fun fact is that Bobby Orr would have played up until year 2000 if he played as long in the NHL as Gordie Howe, give this man your respect
