I’ve been told that drinking puts a heavy strain on your heart. Supposedly, this is bad in the long term.

Exercise also puts a strain on your heart, forcing it to work harder to compensate for your heightened activity. Yet, this seems to strengthen the heart and LENGTHEN it’s vitality. In both instances, aren’t you forcing your heart (a muscle) to work harder? Why does forcing your muscle to work harder through unhealthy methods not strengthen your heart?
