Am a straight woman. My male friends and I call each other a few times a week to check in, cheer each other on, gas each other up. If we’re in the same place, lots of hugs, family movies, going to each other’s house with comfort food or stuff the others like just because cool people are cool and it’s fun to celebrate them.

However, I have found that with many men, especially in my (somewhat sexually/emotionally repressed) field it seems to be interpreted as or lead to interest, which is confusing because if I was interested I’d say I was interested? How do you compliment men without it being interpreted as interest?
