Long story short. I happened to stumble across this es kelapa muda vendor selling his product for 10k before the new years. Just now I bought some again and when I asked the price (just to make sure), he paused for a bit, closed his eyes and lift his chin a bit (I think he’s trying to count in his head) and he told me it’s 12k now. I’m like, aight cool and paid with the ol’ reliable QRIS (read: keris) but in my head, “damn these people didn’t even know the vat increase was cancelled”. They didn’t even know that VAT wasn’t going from 0 to 12 but 11 to 12. Even if it does Increase from 0 to 12, charging an extra 20% is horrendous. I blame the media for overusing the number 12 without fucking context. And the government for their fucking stupidity
Edit: I just thought that by doing this, the government doesn’t increase their tax revenue, which is an L for them (yeah I know about the luxury products, Idgaf) also the price of goods still increase widely, also an L for the people. The stupidity of the government fucking shows like a fucking beacon of shit here. Ever heard of win-win solution? This is Lose-Lose Idiocy right here. Get used to it
Sorry for ranting. Tldr: fuck this country
