I currently own a Chromecast TV 4K, but I’m not entirely satisfied with it. I’m considering an alternative: buying an old Samsung S10 with the Samsung DeX feature, connecting it to a portable hub with HDMI, USB-A (for a mouse dongle), USB-C, and other ports like LAN, and using it as a TV box.

In my area, a used Samsung S10 costs around $50.

I’ve also seen on XDA that it’s possible to download custom ROMs with the latest version of Android for the S10. However, I’m not sure if the DeX feature would still work on such ROMs.

What do you think about this setup? Would it be a good replacement for a traditional TV box?
