Earlier today at the gym I was doing a set of face pulls. I had my headphones on as usual. Idk if this is relevant but I was the only desi at the gym at that moment.
This guy comes up and asks my name and if I’m Indian etc. Then he said he’s from Dubai and a personal trainer and noticed my form and wanted to help out. He asked me to do a rep so he could show me how to do it right. I was already annoyed that he’d interrupted me but I was trying to be polite so I obliged. He stood behind me and started adjusting my posture at my hips and under my breasts. I was really uncomfortable but I didn’t know how to tell him to stop touching me. When he was satisfied I did a few reps and he said looks good and left.
He came around a few mins later and gave me a thumbs up and said I was doing fine.
I went to the lat pulldown machine next and I was doing a heavier weight than usual so I was struggling a bit. Obviously this man shows up and said he’d show me how it’s done and that I have to pull it all the way to my chest, change my grip etc etc
At this point I couldn’t take it anymore so I texted my bf who was doing legs across the gym and said I wanted to go home.
I feel really strange about the whole thing and I’m scared to go to the gym again. Maybe he just wanted to be helpful but I didn’t see him try to talk to any of the men or the white women. Whatever his reasons were, I just want to cut it off at the start and say “no ty I don’t want your advice” but how do I actually say it in the moment?
