I drive less than 5k miles a year on average. Taking kids to school, running errands around town, etc. Might have one 2k mile road trip every couple of years. Most of my driving is in the city.
I’ve always Toyotas for Fords. I keep up with regular maintenance and if something breaks (like the transmission - for $5k 4 months ago), and its reasonable, we fix it. We keep our cars until the wheels fall off, (I’m giving my current car to my daughter when she gets her license), so resale is not a huge concern, but I don’t want a money pit. My husband and I make good money and live a comfortable life. Reading comments about BMWs on other subs makes me thinking owning one is like lighting stacks of cash on fire compared to the cost of ownership for a Toyota.
Everyone is telling me to get a Toyota or Lexus but they’re so damn boring. SO. BORING. And honestly for the price of a Lexus, I could have a nice CPO X5. I don’t drive a lot, so I could save my money and get a beater, but I can’t stop thinking about the X5 I test drove. Maybe a lease is the better way to go?
