The neighbor is building a new house in what used to be his back yard. House are really expensive in my area, that one will sell for two million easily. The builder came over and said they were building a new fence. I told him that was fine, just build it next to mine. He said they would prefer to replace our fence. I said I would rather not go that route but would agree if no section of fence was missing for more than a few days and that it stayed in the exact same place. And that I wanted that in writing.

The email, that claimed to agree to my terms, actually said that the fence would be as close to the existing one as reasonable, given construction conditions, and that a red construction fence would be put up in between the old one being taken down and the new one being put up.

I denied them permission and told them that they had changed the terms. Neighbor is angry with me and says I am bring unreasonable. I said my terms were that the fence could not be moved an inch in our direction and that a red construction fence was not acceptable. My fence keep a lot of the dust and nose from our house, a red construction fence would not.

He then tried to bluff me via a legal threat, I said “Jerry, I have already talked to my lawyer and know you are full of shit. Stay away from my fence or I will press charges for vandalism.”

He thinks I am the asshole for being unreasonable. AITA?
