Worked at this job for 3 years. Always showed up on time, did my work, never caused problems. But last week, my boss asked me to “go the extra mile” and cover for a coworker who constantly slacks off. I said no because (1) I already do my fair share, (2) I’m not getting paid extra for it, and (3) if they keep letting this guy get away with it, why should I pick up the slack?

Today, I got pulled into a meeting and was told I have a “bad attitude” and I’m “not a team player.” They fired me on the spot. No severance. Just a “good luck out there.”

Corporate America is a joke. They demand loyalty but give none in return.

Guess it’s time to start looking for another soul-sucking job to make someone else rich.
