I’ve been using Nextcloud for years, but the Android app is killing me. Basic features are still missing, bugs go unfixed for ages, and even when I submit PRs to help, they rot in GitHub purgatory.

  • Why does uploading files still randomly fail?
  • Why does the “sync” function barely work?
  • Why is the app still not fully aware when offline and/or server is not reachable?

I get that it’s open-source and resources are limited, but the glacial pace is pushing me (and probably others) toward alternatives.

Questions for the crowd:

  1. Is anyone else this frustrated? Or am I just cursed with bad luck?

  2. Are there forks or third-party clients that actually work reliably? (Is this the time to switch to ownCloud?)

  3. How do we get Nextcloud to prioritize Android? The server gets all the love, but mobile is where most people actually use things.

Rant over. Thanks for listening.
