So me and my partner moved into a masionette about a month ago. They’re are 4 masionettes and we live in quite a nice area where everyone knows each other. The rest are all houses and we are the only masionettes in our street. Everyone has there own garden. Some bigger than others so ours is only a small patio area with our washing line and some chairs on it, just enough for the two of us. When I went out there this morning- I have noticed someone’s wet washing on our line? The line has only been up 2/3 weeks and I have never noticed this before… So I thought I’d take a video to get some evidence then take the washing down and put it on our bins. I tried knocking on neighbours but I either got no answer or they had no idea? When I told my partner he said that I should keep the washing out on our line and put a lock on our gate (our fence and gate is about 6ft tall) with the idea that whoever put it out there will have to knock to collect it…. So I done just that. Now I’m anxiously waiting to see who’s washing it is and if they will even knock to get it, as it is only two duvet covers and two pillowcases. The thing is I don’t want to seem like an ass to the neighbours if it’s their washing and we have just moved here but then it is our garden?

UPDATE: They came and collected… told us it was a shared garden… we are private rented and they are council house. The garden is next to our house not there’s but going to check with the landlord.
