It seems like jagex liked the idea of awakeners orbs/contracts. More specifically, they like the idea of consumable item requirements to attempt hard content.

Please don’t make this the norm for hard content going forward. What happened with just walk in, try, fail, have fun? Jagexs design philosophy has obviously changed. Back when tob was released, it was considered really difficult, so instead of adding a fee to attempt it, jagex made the death only cost 100k. To encourage people to try instead of discouraging them.

Price is not difficulty, it just makes stuff less accessible and discourages people from even trying until they have full BIS. Because why would you ever waste 100m+ on orbs or contracts when you cant even afford every actually useful item first. (Aboslute max plus most niche/“situational” BIS items is roughly 10b).

Just seems odd that they have been going with gatekeeping solutions instead of the other way around. (Contracts don’t appear to difficult so this is probably fine, but im disappointed to see the return of orbs as a whole)
