I (19) work a minimum wage job and worked up to buy a new IPad Pro. I work 3 times a week each shift being around 6-7 hours and I have been paying for all my stuff since I was 16. This in includes clothes, school supplies, essentials, etc. I also pay for YouTube premium and Netflix and share my acc with my family so they can watch too.

A little over a week ago while I was on the clock my family decided to go to a different city about 2 hours from where we live, to visit some family members. My sister-in-law (36F) took my iPad and Apple Pencil without my knowledge and gave it to my 2 niece’s (ages 8 & 4) she said she took it so they could draw with it while on the road.

The main issue is the house they visited had a pool and my niece dropped the iPad and waterlogged it. Once back, my sister-in-law gave it back to me and said it was waterlogged. I got upset and yelled at her for taking it without permission and for letting her kid near the water with it.

She said it’s my fault because I do not have a case on it (I don’t like the feel with a case) and that she’s hopes I learn from this experience and get one. I tried every method to fix the iPad but ended up having to pay to get it fixed. However I had to cancel my YouTube prem and Netflix to because I do not want to spent money I don’t really have.

However, I was petty and logged out of YouTube and Netflix on every device but my own to enjoy the time left on the subscriptions. My family is now upset because they can’t watch their shows anymore. But I feel like it was deserved. AITA?
