Ok kinda ranty.

I am a middle aged (let me add happily married also) woman who rides a motorcycle. I often go alone and run quick errands. I go and do my thing and keep to myself. I seem to attract a lot of 50+ year old men who feel the need to either talk to me (this is ok) or talk at me or mansplain (not ok) or something worse which is what happened yesterday. I do not look for conversation but a lot of the men simply ask what kind of bike I have and wish me safe travels (watch out for that gravel!) I am ok with that. Once I had a man manplain to me what kind of bike is best for me because he knows me sooo well I guess. That was annoying and the conversation was over at that point. But what happened yesterday was just icky.

I had a (kinda gross I just gotta add) man in his late 50s approach me. He had a heavy accent so I assumed he was new to North America and he asked me how to go about getting a licence. I like being helpful and since he was foreign I guess i felt like it even more so. I said you needed to write a learner’s permit test then perform a road test. At which he scoffed and showed me his class one license from whatever country he was from (it was for driving semi trucks) I said ok that may very well be but you still need to go through the right process. At that point I was like eh I’m tired of this begins inching away But then he began taking about driving in Asian countries and how crazy it can be. I said I agree I rode a scooter in Thailand with my husband. Then he says there is lots of sex tourism in Thailand… Er, but that isn’t why he goes, he had a Filipina wife he divorced and he is done with Asians. At which point I say bye and leave.

So how did it arrive there? Was he thinking of sex or banging me the whole time and just blurts that out?

And now my conclusion. I come across a lot of comments on various online outlets from (maybe, probably normal?) dudes who feel immediately shut out by women in random conversational situations, classifying us as being “bitches”… This is why guys. This is why.
