Is there an engine that exists today (4, 6, 8 cylinder) that with decent maintenance could be considered “bullet-proof”? Along the lines of Mercedes diesels of the 80s. Not regarding in the least, things like hp, torque, etc.
Cars keep getting faster & stronger, but also more complicated with all the turbos. I’m guessing there isn’t an engine as robust as the old Mercedes diesels, but if something were to come close, what would it be? I’d take a car right now that was slow if I knew it was overengineered and “bulletproof” with normal maintenance.
