  • Start earlier. It’s not like they’re not given notice of when the AFL and NRL seasons end. This year there was a full month between the AFL finals ending and the first Melbourne ALM game. The week after the AFL Grand Final, Round 1 of A-League with at least two Melbourne games, ideally three. Do the same in Sydney the week NRL wraps up. You can’t let a single week with no game in town go to waste, let alone four.

  • Probably more a Vuck thing, but bring back the ALW-ALM double headers. There was one of them this year iirc, having to trek all the way out to Bundoora to see ALW matches is too big a hurdle if they want to get fans in seats. Maybe once the Championship’s up and running have one of those as a curtain raiser? I dunno, seemed like it was too good a thing to just give up.

  • Bribe the press. Because fuck it seems like that’s the only way to get some decent media coverage. I don’t know whether it’s the league’s fault or whether it’s Paramount’s or whether it’s just the other codes running a racket, and I do know the league’s got no money to bribe with, but something’s gotta be done and I think they only thing that’ll talk is a heap o cash.
