Newish to Unraid. So far I LOVE it and wish I had moved to it sooner. When I set it up I wasn’t aware of any issues with having SSD’s in the array or as a parity drive so I have 1 Samsung 980 Pro as my single array drive (only used for containers/VM’s to live on) and a 980 Pro as the parity disk. My thought process was this would basically act as a RAID 1 and provide redundant fast AF storage for my containers and 2 VM’s. This has been running great for about 3 months now with no issues or failures at all, I have no complaints.

I have since seen many posts about how it’s bad to put SSD’s in the array or use as a parity drive because TRIM on the SSD can cause inconsistencies. My question is if I have Trim disabled in Settings>Scheduler then what is the harm with this setup? I’ve tried searching for this but all I can find is people saying don’t do it. I know performance can suffer without trim however I’m only using about 25% capacity and I don’t really see that growing very much at all, maybe 5-10% at most.
